Entrepreneur GURU MANTRA lecture Series

“All buyouts are mostly emotional decisions explained rationally” said Phaneesh Murthy, CEO, iGate Patni at Client Associates’ Entrepreneur Guru Mantra 2011 at ITC Grand Central in Mumbai on Tuesday, October 18.

Speaking at an event from the lecture series by Entrepreneur magazine, Mr. Murthy shared his experiences and tips on running a successful business with entrepreneurs and venture capitalists.

Editor of Entrepreneur magazine, Mr. Bipin Chandran, and president & editorial director of TV18, Mr. Senthil Chengalvarayan, introduced Mr. Murthy giving a background of his entrepreneurial journey and also of the time Mr. Murthy worked at Infosys and got branded as the other ‘Murthy’.

Mr. Phaneesh Murthy shared how he began iGate with four employees and worked towards a vision of building one of the country’s largest services company with a team of over 20,000 employees. He advised entrepreneurs to believe in their ideas and their potential to make their businesses successful and emphasized on the importance of risk taking. He shared that “I was once asked by someone that ‘I am wondering if I should become an entrepreneur, what should I do?’ I replied no.” He explained then that an entrepreneur must always believe in his idea and potential to make it work and that there is no place for doubt.

He then answered questions from the entrepreneurs on their concerns of bootstrapping, and on his experience of having gone through self doubt and ever having been emotionally driven in his business acquisitions.

Joining the entrepreneurs for dinner later, he answered some candid questions and openly discussed roadblocks in business as the entrepreneurs looked towards him as a mentor for the evening.
Title sponsor for the session was Client Associates, India’s First boutique ‘Family Office Firm’ providing Private Wealth Management services in India. MxM media had joined as the Online Media partner.
